Organic Waste In Fish Ponds and Microbial waste Digestion
Keep The Bottom Of Your Pond Nice and Clean
For most garden fish pond keepers even when the water is crystal clear and there is no blanket weed present there remains one annoying problem ... how to keep the bottom of the pond debris-free?
There are vacuum devices available (click here for best online source in UK ... tell them the Pond Professor sent you) and the larger fish or koi ponds have bottom drains installed. It remains that most people do not have any way to keep the pond bottom clear.
In nature ponds do not all get shallower and shallower over time although some do and become swamps. The reason for this is a special bacterial process called organic waste digestion. Quite simple there are naturally occurring bacteria whose purpose in life is to eat this organic waste and convert it to carbon dioxide. In conventional backyard fish ponds the build up of bacteria to levels sufficiently high to do a good job is difficult and as such waste accumulates on the bottom of the pond. Viresco Digester is a product designed to add millions and millions of the right type of bacteria to speed up the digestion process. In this way ponds can be kept clean of all organic solids.
Pack sizes of Viresco Digester are ...

How To Apply Viresco
Dissolve the freeze dried powder in a small amount of pond water, leave for a few hours and then bulk up with more pond water before adding direct to the water in different places around the pond. Ideally the powder should be mixed in the morning, left with an air-stone and added into the pond in the evening. Intermittent use of a cake or egg whisk can be made if an air-stone is not available.
It is important to keep the mixture in a shaded place indoors once you dissolve in water. This is because the UV radiation from daylight could damage some of the bacteria in our products.
DO NOT USE TAP WATER which contains chlorine
