Overstocked Fish Ponds and Viresco usage
Most of us build filters too big for our ponds so we continue to add more fish since the system can sustain them. However this creates not only higher ammonia levels that can be handled by the filter of course but the ammonia all eventually ends up as nitrates. This is when algae problems start to occur. In any normal pond the only way that nitrates can be kept down to reasonable levels is to install plants (the nitrate act as a fertilizer) but plants are not sufficiently good at reducing nitrates down to zero levels and water changes.

Up to 60 inches of fish per 1000 gallons of pond water (1.5 metres in 4500 litres) or 35 cm of fish per 1000 litres of pond water volume.
If you have any doubts regarding fish densities rather use a bit more Viresco since you cannot overdose and the small extra cost is easily worth the extra pleasure you'll get from the pond.

5 gm treats 13,000 litres or 3,000 gallons, 10 gm treats 27,000 litres or 6,000 gallons and 25 gm pack will treat 5 times this or a pond of up to 65,000 litres or 15,000 gallons
